Swimming lessons

So today I signed Dalton up for swimming lessons! They start on Monday, and I am so excited!! I hope he takes to them better than I did... I can keep myself from drowning, but I look like a frog doing it lol. Later today I will be going to workout with my mom. Can't wait!

Life

So it's been a while, sorry about that. I've been busy :P So as you may know, I've been preparing for the tough mudder, which was last Sunday. My entire team finished, and it was a ton of fun! I did things that scared the crap out of me, and I'm so glad I did!
This is us beforehand

And this is us after earning that orange headband :)

It was a chilly day on Sunday, forecasted high of 67 degrees, with scattered thunderstorms, which managed to pick the coldest obstacles to come pouring down. But now that it's all over, I feel tough, and can't wait for the next one! Training is back in progress! :)

Weeks workouts

So I figured I'd post what I do to workout. This isn't a "typical" schedule, because I don't have a standard schedule. It changes every day, but I figured I'd post a week's worth to give you an idea. My workouts aren't very long typically, because I have other things to do throughout the day. I try to bust my ass when I am working out though to make up for it. Some are longer than others, usually because I'm working out for mudder training during those days with my team. By the way, this isn't the whole week yet. I'll post what I've done, starting Monday, and then update through the week.

   3 pullups
   55 squats

The Last Few Days

So the other night I made pizza:
It was delicious if I do say so myself! Yesterday I took my husband to the airport to go to work. I went shopping and got the D man some flip flops, and I got the Finnster this:
It is THE CUTEST thing on!!! It looks so nautical :)

Then today I get this text from my husband saying his bush plane wrecked with him in it!! I couldn't get ahold of him for over an hour! I was flipping out!! Finally I get a text from him saying he was alright. Thank f**king God!! Then yesterday my pullup bar fell down and hit me on the head, then clipped Finn's head on the way down. Luckily my head caught the worst of it, but I was all freaked out about that! He's fine, and so am I, but it's been a nerve-wracking couple of days to say the least! I am ready for some good luck!

Earth Day

Anyone celebrate Earth day? Have any special plans? I am planning on taking Dalton to the park after school with a trash bag and some gloves, and we will pick up the park, and then he can play and ride his bike. We are also limiting tv and computer time. Later our friends are coming over for dinner and to play monopoly. Not because of Earth day, just for fun lol. I am going to make some homemade pizza, a strawberry dessert pizza, and some fried summer squash. I can't wait! I love fresh pizza!

Mr. D

So this blog started as a way to document my pregnancy, which made it all about Finn, but I figured to be fair I'd write a little bit about my older son who is the other half of the center of my universe.

Age: 4 and a half

Size: To be honest I have no idea lol. He only gets checkups once a year now, and it's been a while. However he is tall and skinny. He's been in the lower percentile range since birth. He was 4lbs 8oz at birth and 16.5 inches long. He was a twin and born at 36 weeks, so he had a lot of catching up to do.

Things he can do/stages: He is in preschool, and is just learning to write his name. Cutest signature in the world :) He has a CRAZY amount of energy... ALL the time! The doctor and nurses call him bruiser lol. He loves to run on my elliptical machine, and dance. He has a crazy good memory. He is in the sassing stage. Everything I say to him he has a comeback for. It drives me crazy lol.

Favorite things: Cars. Macaroni and cheese and corndogs, horses, fishing, playing outside, reading, bug juice, his friends (he's quite the social bug), dad

Non-favorite things: bugs of all kinds and snakes

End of 3 Months/beginning of 4

Size: Finn is 3 months and three weeks now. He started in the 75th percentile for weight and height, and at his last appointment (at 3 months exactly) had adjusted down to the 46th. I was a little worried about the drop, but the doctor says it's fine. His head circumference is in the 86th percentile lol. He is growing way too fast though, no matter what percentile he's in!

Things he's doing: He rolls from front to back on occasion, and can sit on his own for brief periods of time! We started a small amount of solid food. Bananas to be exact, because he lunges for real food, and is always hungry. He wakes up at night a million and a half times to nurse, so I feed him a small amount of real food, and it keeps him satisfied. Avocados are next up. He laughs/squeals now, and grins big gummy grins at me. He's starting to get coordinated enough with his hands that he can bring stuff to his mouth.

Our favorite things:

Shea Moisture baby wash and lotion in Red bush and babassu. This stuff smells SOO good, and leaves baby clean and soft. Plus it is organic, and free of preservatives etc. I can actually understand everything on the ingredients list. I got it at Target.

Infantino baby gym. Not the Cadillac of baby gyms, but I was going for cheap since we may be moving soon and will have to limit what we take. It works however, and Finn loves it. He doesn't care how much it costs! It's handy to have while working out. He lays there and kicks away while mommy does sit-ups, push-ups, etc.

Baby bullet. I LOVE this thing! I didn't make my own baby food with my last son. I was 17 and it didn't even cross my mind. After reading about all the additives and such to standard baby food, I wish I would have. This is easy and fun to use, and I love it.

Snugli baby carrier. I thought about going with the moby wrap, or a different carrier, but I received this one as a gift. I LOVE it! I had a snugli brand with Dalton, but it required a PhD to get it on! This one is super easy and soft, and he's been able to use it from birth until now. It pulls on your shoulders after long shopping/hiking trips however :(

Lansinoh breast milk storage bags. Not super impressive, they are just milk storage bags. They are really handy though. I can pump and dump into one of those, label it, and throw it in the freezer. Nice for when baby needs a babysitter, or daddy to watch him.

Clothes: Finn is in 3-6 month clothes now. Unfortunately the one size I didn't get a ton of at my baby shower, so I will need to go shopping soon. I don't have any super cute outfits to post at the moment, but maybe after our shopping trip :) We hang out mostly in sleepers, because it has been cold here, and they are soft and snuggly. Finn has an adorable knitted hat my aunt made him, which is my favorite. It's green and soft and I get a ton of compliments on it.

What else to say? I'm not sure. I will do a post on my diaper bag essentials soon. So... Ciao!

Am I Nuts??

Ok, so I signed up to do the tough mudder. Anyone who doesn't know what that is, it's a 10-12 mile obstacle race with things like fire, freezing cold water, greased monkey bars, berlin walls, and best of all, electric shock. You can see it here: http://toughmudder.com/ I have been training for it for a couple of months now. It is crazy how much your stamina drops after having a baby! I get on the treadmill every day, and have only managed to work myself back up to running half a mile! I am trying to run 30 seconds longer every day though until I can get back up to running a good amount. I am also working on pullups and general strengthening exercises. I am excited and a little nervous!  My mom is doing it though, and wanted me to do it too, so here we go! lol. I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight pretty quickly, so that's not a problem. All I'm doing now is trying to build up my strength and stamina so I don't fall over and die halfway through lol. Wish me luck! :)

Questions

So... I see people look at my blog... Quite a few people. But no one ever comments or follows or anything. Do any of you have suggestions on how to change that?? Anyone? Do you guys stumble on it by accident, or what? Who is my audience? :)

My Birth Story

Night before the induction

Ok, I know. I'm an awful person. I had Finn 3 months ago, and my posts trailed off. I apologize to whoever actually read my blog. As you may know, I was computer-less for a long stretch there. So... I am picking up again at the story of Finn's birth.

Finn was born on January 4th. One and a half weeks after my due date. By the time it rolled around, I was absolutely miserable. My hips felt like they were being ripped open, and my back hurt all the time. I went in to my last doctor's appointment on the second and the doctor told me I had the choice to either try induction, or go straight in for a second C-section. I was wanting a natural un-medicated birth, so I opted for the induction. I was scheduled to come in the next morning at 7:30 am to get checked in and start the Pitocin.

I got checked in and hooked up to the machines, but the doctor was busy with another emergency, so I didn't get the Pitocin until 10 am. I had very easy labor until about 3:30pm when the doctor came in to check me and decided to pop my water. In all that time, I had only gone from 2 to 4 centimeters dilated, and from 80% effaced to 100%. After she popped my water, the labor got really intense really fast. I suddenly understood what people meant when they kept telling me "you'll know when you are actually in labor". That shit hurt! I labored for an hour or two longer without pain meds, but finally gave in because it was too much. I got the epidural, and after that life was nice. Things were moving much faster now, and at 11:30 pm they came in to check me. I was 10 cm dilated, so they went to get the doctor, and let me "labor down" a bit longer. They finally came in and called the nurse who was supposed to clean up the baby when he came out. It was 11:58 when everything was ready to go, and they told me to push. My mom jokingly told me I had 2 minutes to get the baby out if I wanted him on 1-3-13. I guess I took her seriously, because 2 pushes and he was out. He was born at exactly midnight, which put his birthday on 1-4-13. He was 8 lbs 6oz, 20.5 inches long, and absolutely beautiful! They gave him to me, and he latched on to feed immediately. I didn't have any rips or tears or anything, so the doctor congratulated me, and left for the night. Mac went home to make sure the pipes didn't freeze at our house, and my mom slept on the couch for a few hours. She left in the morning, so I was alone with my new and beautiful little Finn. He had to get glucose tests to check for diabetes since he was so big. He passed all with flying colors. Later Mac and Dalton came to see us. It was D's first time meeting his little brother. I think he was stunned that there was actually a little person in there lol. He held him and loved on him, and Mac held the baby so I could love on my big boy. They kept me one more night. It was pretty uneventful. Just me and the baby doing our thing. We went home the next afternoon. We brought the baby to meet grandma, and to pick up Dalton who was staying the night at her house. Finally we got home, and got to start getting used to our new little addition.
